Uttarakhand Signs Three Landmark MoUs To Boost Digital Talent, AI Education And Social Development

In a major push toward digital transformation and social upliftment, the Uttarakhand government on Wednesday signed three key agreements aimed at equipping students with future-ready skills and improving grassroots development.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami oversaw the signing at the Secretariat, calling it a strategic move to shape Uttarakhand into a modern center for AI, education, and inclusive growth, reported Indian PSU.

The first MoU — a 10-year tripartite agreement between the Uttarakhand Government, Setu Commission, and Tata Trust — targets critical development areas including water conservation, nutrition, telemedicine, rural livelihoods, and green energy.

The second MoU involves the Setu Commission, the departments of Higher and Technical Education, and NASSCOM’s IT-ITES Sector Skill Council. It seeks to make Uttarakhand a digital talent hub by integrating tech-based curricula — covering Artificial Intelligence, Python, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Generative AI — across all government and private colleges. Around 1.5 lakh students are expected to benefit, with one mentor institute designated in each district.

A third MoU with the Wadhwani Foundation focuses on personality development and self-employment through AI-powered skill training. Beginning next academic session, students in government higher education institutions will earn academic credit for these courses, which will reach 1.2 lakh students.

“The three agreements signed today will be extremely useful in preparing our youth for future challenges and ensuring the inclusive development of our state. We are committed to reaching the last person in the queue with the benefits of technology and education,” CM Dhami said, emphasizing the need to make modern education and technology accessible to the last-mile citizen.

Key attendees included Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Setu Commission Vice Chair Raj Shekhar Joshi, and representatives from Tata Trust, NASSCOM, and Wadhwani Foundation.
