Haryana Men In Fortuner Assault Dehradun Family In Jeep On Rajpur Road, Police Yet To Nab Accused

A family outing on Dehradun’s busy Rajpur Road turned violent on May 30, when a group of men in a white Toyota Fortuner Legender allegedly blocked and vandalized a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, harassing the occupants, including a woman and a child.

The incident, captured in viral videos, sparked outrage across Uttarakhand as bystanders witnessed the public display of aggression in broad daylight.

The altercation occurred near the Central Secretariat, before Bahal Chowk, when the Fortuner, bearing a Haryana registration number, aggressively swerved to block the Jeep from the left side. Despite being on a busy road, the Fortuner’s driver and passengers stepped out, banged on the Jeep, and demanded that the driver, identified as Chaudhary, exit the vehicle.

Despite Chaudhary’s repeated attempts to de-escalate the situation and his requests to resolve the matter at a police station, the group continued shouting and striking the vehicle. His wife, seated beside him, was seen calling the police as their child sat frightened in the back seat. Chaudhary refused to open the windows, maintaining composure under pressure.

A second video shows local residents trying to intervene, only to be assaulted by the attackers. One man was seen hitting an elderly bystander who tried to help, further fueling public condemnation of the incident.

After ensuring his family’s safety by taking them home, Chaudhary returned to the location and contacted the police. Though law enforcement initially detained the Fortuner, the suspects had fled by the time the complainant arrived.

As of now, no arrests have been made.
