Dehradun district faces a dual health challenge as dengue fever cases climbed to 88 with four new infections reported Monday, while coronavirus continues to spread with another positive case detected.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma confirmed the latest dengue cases during routine surveillance activities. Three patients are from Dehradun while one belongs to Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh. The monsoon season has accelerated dengue transmission, with health officials expressing concern over the rapid increase in vector-borne disease cases, Jagran News reported.
All 10 currently active dengue patients remain hospitalized across different medical facilities in the district. The Health Department’s entomological surveillance revealed dengue larvae in 56 households Monday, indicating active Aedes aegypti breeding sites throughout the region.
Dr. Sharma reported that 6,161 samples have undergone testing since the outbreak began. Among the 88 confirmed cases, 52 patients are Dehradun residents while 36 come from other districts and states. An additional 104 samples were sent for laboratory analysis on Monday.
The coronavirus situation remains stable but persistent. A 45-year-old woman tested positive Monday, bringing the district’s total COVID-19 cases to 35. “The patient shows mild symptoms and is receiving home isolation treatment as per medical protocols,” Dr. Sharma explained.
Current COVID-19 statistics show 27 cases from Dehradun, one from Haridwar, and seven patients who traveled outside Uttarakhand. Six active cases remain under home isolation monitoring.
