Weather Update for Dehradun and Uttarakhand

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Dehradun and several districts in Uttarakhand, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, squalls, and intense rainfall on May 24, 25, 27, and 28.

In Dehradun today, expect hazy sunshine with a high of 93°F (34°C) and a low of 74°F (23°C). There is a possibility of isolated thunderstorms late this morning, followed by intervals of clouds and sun throughout the day.

Residents and visitors are advised to exercise caution, especially in areas near small rivers and streams, due to the potential for sudden weather changes. The IMD warns of possible damage to property, livestock, and unsecured structures from gusty winds and lightning strikes.

The IMD has also issued an orange alert for five hilly districts in Uttarakhand, urging Chardham pilgrims to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions during their journeys.

Looking ahead, the weather pattern indicates continued instability, with thunderstorms and rainfall expected on May 25, 27, and 28. Temperatures are projected to remain high, with daytime highs ranging from 90°F (32°C) to 100°F (38°C) over the next week.
