Five Media Vehicles Reportedly Crash En Route To Haridwar During Delhi CM Rekha Gupta’s Uttarakhand Visit

At least five vehicles carrying media personnel to cover Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s two-day visit to Uttarakhand were reportedly involved in a road accident near Haridwar on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m., a few kilometres before entering the city, eyewitnesses said. No injuries or casualties were reported, according to Live Hindustan.

The accident reportedly happened when a car in the convoy suddenly braked, causing a pile-up of media vehicles traveling closely behind. However, the Chief Minister’s office denied the claim that the car belonged to the official convoy.

Rekha Gupta, who recently completed 100 days in office as Delhi’s Chief Minister, began her Uttarakhand visit from her Shalimar Bagh residence on Sunday. Accompanied by family members, she reached Haridwar later in the day and took a holy dip in the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri.

She is scheduled to attend the evening Ganga Aarti in Rishikesh and is likely to visit Kedarnath on Monday. The trip is being seen as both personal and symbolic, marking her first significant out-of-state public appearance since assuming office.

Local police monitored the situation after the accident, but no FIRs had been filed as of late evening. Traffic movement remained unaffected on the route.

The state administration has not issued an official statement on the accident, though CM Gupta’s office reiterated that the media’s safety is a priority and arrangements for press coverage in Kedarnath are underway.
