The suspension followed a cloudburst and landslide on the Barkot-Yamunotri route in Uttarkashi district. The incident, which occurred near Silai Band, claimed the lives of two road construction workers, while seven others remain missing. Rescue operations by the NDRF, SDRF, police, and revenue teams are ongoing.

Uttarkashi District Magistrate Prashant Arya said that repair work on the washed-out section of the road before Silai Band has been completed, and additional road restoration is underway. The 33 KV power line disrupted by the cloudburst has also been restored, while work continues on the 11 KV line.

The landslide site is located about four kilometers ahead of Paligad on the Yamunotri National Highway. Uttarkashi police identified the deceased as Kewal Bisht, 43, from Rajapur in Nepal, and Duje Lal, 55, from Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh.
