Breaking: Dehradun Woman Stabbed To Death In Broad Daylight At Paltan Bazaar

Dehradun: Panic gripped Paltan Market’s Machhi Bazaar on Monday morning after a married man brutally killed a young woman in a public place using a sharp weapon, according to Live Hindustan. The accused is reportedly the father of a child. The daylight murder triggered widespread anger in the area, forcing traders to shut down the market. The victim’s family accused the police of negligence.

According to the police, 23-year-old Gunjan, a resident of Govindgarh, left home around 10:30 am for work at a dental clinic. As she reached near Ansari Road, Dulha Bazaar, she was ambushed by Akash Kumar (27), who attacked her with a sharp weapon. Gunjan suffered severe injuries to her neck and collapsed on the road. She was rushed to Doon Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Police acted swiftly and arrested Akash Kumar, a resident of Mannuganj, Khudbuda Mohalla. He is married and has a child. Police are questioning him to determine the motive, with initial indications pointing to a one-sided dispute or a possible romantic relationship, the report said.

Following the incident, large crowds gathered at the crime scene and the hospital. The victim’s family protested against the police, alleging that Gunjan had filed a complaint against the accused at the Khudbuda police outpost just two days earlier, but no serious action was taken. They said timely police intervention could have saved her life.

Traders shut down shops in Machhi Bazaar, Dulha Bazaar, and nearby areas in protest. Given the sensitive situation, a heavy police force has been deployed in the area. SSP Dehradun Ajay Singh said the accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
